Physical characteristics : Adults measure 5 to 8 millimetres in length. Their thorax is grey, it has four black lines lengthwise on its back.It's abdomen is grey, the entire body is covered in hairy fuzz. They have red eyes and the females are generally larger than the males.
Behaviour : The domestic fly is the most common fly, it has domestic in it's name although it is not animal, it is however an insect that gladly enters our homes.
Diet : The domestic fly can only consume liquids. It predigests its food by first releasing saliva on it and then reabsorbs what's leftof it. It also vomits matter that is partially digested to absorb it at a later time.
Reproduction : Each female can lay 500 and up to 1000 eggs, in five sessions of about a hundred eggs at a time. The eggs are whiteand measure 1,2 millimetres in length. After a day the eggs hatch and feed on organic matter that has died and or is in a state of decomposition, like cadavers or excrements. The larva's are white and measure 3 to 9 millimetres.
Other : Small flies are not that way because they are young but because they didn't eat sufficiently as larva.
