Physical characteristics : There are many species of fruit flies. Generally this small fly measures about 1 or 2 millimetres. It's body is brown and it has distinctive red eyes.

Behaviour : The fruit fly is all over the world. Often seen all year round, they quickly become a problem. Manufacturing plants of fruit juices or sweet jams offer a perfect opportunity to fall in jars and transmit micro-organisms.

Diet : The larvae will often develop in fresh produce like fruit, juices or table residues. It is often found in restaurant kitchen sinks, drains and floor. Some even hide in empty bottles

Reproduction : The reproduction of these flies is very quick. One couple can easily produce hundreds of descendants and they do so in as little as a few weeks. These new flies will mature after only a week.
